Mount of Mars (Upper / Positive)
The area between the Mount of Mercury and the Mount of Luna, on the percussion edge — governs moral courage and resistance to provocation.
Upper Mars sits on the percussion (outer) edge of the palm, between the Mount of Mercury and the Mount of Luna. It is sometimes called 'positive' or 'passive' Mars, in contrast to Lower Mars. It governs moral courage — the ability to hold one's ground, endure hardship, and resist provocation without losing composure. Well-developed, it suggests quiet resilience; deficient, it suggests a tendency to give in under pressure or avoid confrontation even when it's warranted.
Spotting it: Look at the outer edge of the palm, in the strip between the base of the Mercury mount (below the little finger) and the Luna mount (near the wrist).
Read on its own
Raised — Steady, kind, generous and helpful; keeps clear of wrongdoing, devoted to God, fond of its food, with the standing to command anyone. Takes exercise, and is brave — a fighter, or a good wrestler.

Hastarekha-Bichar (1935) reads a low Mars mount — either of the two — as ending on the gallows, and as having few brothers and sisters. The first is a claim about a violent death, the second a prediction about family composition; this course doesn't make either kind of claim, so the character half of that reading is kept above and these two are recorded here. The chapter also closes with a list of illnesses it attributes to the mount: disorders of the bile, smallpox, measles, dysentery, haemorrhage, ringworm, boils and abscesses, burning fevers, a disgraceful disease, diabetes, painful urination, toothache, piles, fistula, and wounds by weapon or by fire.
